The annual nationwide Banque Alimentaire collection is coming up and will be held the weekend of 28 and 29 November 2014.
Donations from the public and businesses are sought for non-perishable and food items,, with pop-up locations for donations at major supermarket chains on the French Riviera including Carrefour Antibes, Monoprix Antibes, Geant Casino Villeneuve Loubet and most major supermarkets in Nice.
Last year, Antibes residents donated more than 19 tonnes of food equivalent to almost 40,000 meals.
The donations are collected and distributed by the CCAS and partners including the Red Cross and AJF Antibes.
Recently, a food donation collection, Yachts du Coeur, was held at the end of October at Cannes Port, an initiative from Eco-Mer also in conjunction with the Cannes Mairie and SNSM (Société Nationale des Sauveteurs en Mer). The next Yachts du Coeur collection is scheduled at Cannes Port for April 2015.
To contribute to the Banque Alimentaire collection in November, please donate an item or two if you are grocery shopping over this weekend. Thanks.
