A great initiative for summer at the request of Nice mayor Christian Estrosi has started and runs until 31 August 2014 in the city of Nice – mini libraries with free book- borrowing.
I love this idea, it’s similar to the book-lending initiative I saw in New Zealand last year (A free library housed in a shipping container at Wynyard Quarter, a popular waterfront area with restaurants).
The blue libraries recently installed in Nice, or ‘Les Cabanes Bleues’, are located at three beaches in Nice – Carras, Poincare and Ponchettes.
Readers can borrow books, comics, magazines, and children’s reading titles. Books will be available in many languages, including English.
The cabins are open every day until 31 August 2014, from 1pm-6pm.
Lending is free of charge, you just need to give them your name, telephone contact details and postal address.
What would be your top pick for summer reading?
